Today, fono is an early test release music player and playlist manager for music NFTs.

Tomorrow it could be much more than that.

"Music itself is going to become like running water or electricity. ... I don't even know why I would want to be on a label in a few years, because I don’t think it’s going to work by labels and by distribution systems in the same way,"
- David Bowie, 2002

Years ago, I used to open Spotify in the morning to an inbox of music sent from my friends.

Over the years, rather than improve and enhance these social features Spotify gradually removed them.

I get it. It's not a social network.

But throughout history music has been a social experience. I often wonder what it might be like if we could bring some of the life back inside our solitary headphones.

I'm starting simple with playlists. More than algorithms or record label influence I want organic discovery. Recommendations from friends and friends of friends.

In this early pre-release version of fono you can search some of the big web3 music platforms, make playlists, and listen to them. You can't share them yet. Things are still a little clunky. We're working on it.

Thanks for reading. Come chat in the brand-new-today discord if you find any of this interesting.
